Good Day is a teacher's tool. If you never sign in, everything you enter stays on your device and never touches a server. If you do sign in with Google, your whole classroom record syncs to your own Firebase account — including your daily logs, journal entries, attendance, points, and any notes you've written about individual students. Nowhere else, and to no one else. We don't run ads, don't sell data, don't share it with third parties, and don't use any analytics or tracking.

This data never leaves your device unless you take one of the optional actions below. Clearing your browser's site data for gooddayconsole.com removes it.
If you choose to sign in with your Google account, Firebase Authentication stores the standard identity fields exposed by Google Sign-In: your Google account's email address, display name, unique user ID, and profile photo URL. This is used only to identify your Good Day account and to authorize your device to sync.
When you're signed in, your classroom setup syncs to your own record in Cloud Firestore, so it's available on other devices you sign in on:

That last one deserves saying plainly rather than burying in a list. If you sign in, private observations you've written about identifiable children are stored on Google's servers under your account, not just on your laptop. They are still only yours — we don't read them, no other user can reach them, and they aren't used to train anything — but they have left the building, and you should decide whether you want that before you sign in. If you'd rather they didn't, don't sign in. Good Day is fully functional as a guest, and nothing you enter will ever leave the device.
Older days are fetched only when you look at them, so signing in on a new device doesn't pull down your whole year at once.
Good Day also keeps a single local backup copy of your roster, in your browser only, taken just before a sign-in would otherwise replace it. It never leaves the device and is overwritten each time. You can restore it from Settings → Data.
Good Day has an optional integration where you paste your own Google Apps Script webhook URL into settings. When configured, completed block logs and journal entries are POSTed to that URL, which writes to your own Google Sheets spreadsheet. Data goes directly from your browser to Google — Good Day itself never receives or stores it.
There is no mailing list today. Good Day has no signup form, collects no address for announcements, and sends no marketing email. The only address this site asks for is the one you choose to write to, and a message you send us is just a message — it is not added to any list.
We may add an announcement list later, for things like new features. Every one of the following will be true before a signup form appears anywhere on this site:
Two features can request microphone access. Both are opt-in — nothing happens until you open the specific widget or press the button.
Good Day embeds Google Slides decks via iframe using the URLs you paste in. Whatever data flows between your browser and Google Slides is governed by Google's terms and privacy policy, not ours. Good Day does not intercept, log, or store anything about your slide content or navigation.
If you enter student names, birthdays, notes, attendance or behaviour points, that data is treated the same as your other classroom data — entirely local if you stay a guest, and synced to your own Firestore record if you sign in. Good Day does not disclose it to anyone.
A note for U.S. K–12 teachers: your district or school likely has its own policies about entering student information into cloud services (FERPA, state student-privacy laws, contracted vendor lists). Good Day is a personal tool used by you — not a district-contracted platform. If your district requires vendor agreements before student data touches a service, please review those requirements before entering student names or birthdays.
This matters more since Good Day began syncing the full daily record. Signing in moves observations about named children off your device and onto Google's servers. If your district hasn't approved that, staying signed out keeps every one of those notes on your laptop and nowhere else — the app loses cross-device sync and nothing else.
Good Day is designed for and marketed to teachers, not students. We don't knowingly collect data directly from children under 13. If you're a teacher and you enter student information into your own account, that data is under your control.
Firebase Hosting keeps standard web-server access logs (IP address, timestamp, path, user agent) for gooddayconsole.com and app.gooddayconsole.com. These are managed by Google under Firebase's terms and are not accessed by us for tracking or advertising purposes.
Fonts are served from this site itself, not from Google Fonts or any other font CDN. Loading a page here does not hand your IP address to a third party for typography. This changed in August 2026; before that both the site and the app requested fonts from fonts.googleapis.com, which did expose your IP address and user agent to Google.
Local data stays until you clear it. Synced data (settings + student roster in Firestore) stays until you request deletion or until an account has been inactive for 24 months, whichever comes first. Google-managed data (auth records, standard hosting logs) follows Google's retention windows.
Good Day's infrastructure runs on Google's global Firebase platform. If you're outside the United States, your data may be processed in the United States by Google's Firebase services. We don't currently offer a data-residency option.
If we materially change what data Good Day collects or how it's used — for example, if daily logs start syncing to Firestore — we'll update the effective date above and note the change on this page. Since there's no mailing list to notify you through, this page is the only place a change is announced; it's worth a look if you've been away a while.
